About Trek Mt K
Trek Mt K is self-financed personal challenge whilst raising funds for Prostate Cancer UK and LIVES.
My goal is to trek Mount Kilimanjaro on 1 September 2024 and support the local community in Lincoln.
I believe that through adventure and community support we can make a difference in the world.
Join me in this amazing journey!
I have served 30-years in the RAF moving over a dozen times during my initial 5 years of service, before getting married to settle down, only moving 9 times in the following 20 years. Now at RAF Waddington I am attempting to establish roots in Lincoln and my wife Alison and I are loving the city, much changed from my initial foray into the city in 1994 when I attended the college at RAF Cranwell.
In the summer of 2023 I learnt that dad had been rushed into hospital for tests whilst we were away on holiday and in early August we found out that it was in fact prostate cancer. 1 in 8 men will get prostate cancer and, if you’re over 50, or you’re black, or your dad or brother had it, you’re at even higher risk. It is hoped that the diagnosis has been caught early enough that it can be treated effectively and I am keen to support the continued advancements in the treatment for this killer.
I have been volunteering for the last 3 years as a level 2 Community First Responder for LIVES, Lincolnshire Integrated Volunteer Emergency Service. A charitable organisation which uses volunteers to support the emergency services by responding to emergency calls in the local community throughout Lincolnshire.
